Graves Announces Additional AIP Aviation Funds for Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District

U.S. Congressman Garret Graves, the Ranking Member of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Aviation, announced that Louisiana Regional Airport will receive $45,000 in federal funding. The funds, provided through the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP), were awarded through a supplemental funding opportunity.

The funds are broken down below:

  • $40,500.00 to reconstruct the apron: This project reconstructs 7,110 square yards of the existing apron pavement that has reached the end of its useful life. This grant funds the first phase, which consists of a preliminary engineering report.
  • $4,500.00 in Cares Act Local Match was awarded: Unlike most AIP funding, these awards include additional contributions by the federal government, allowed by the CARES Act, in place of local match requirements.

Louisiana Regional Airport:

  • Project Description: Reconstruct Apron
    • Supplemental AIP Entitlement: $40,500.00
    • Cares Act Local Match: $4,500.00
    • Total: $45,000.00

These federal funds are part of the same $12 million AIP allotment Graves announced on April 24, 2020 that were awarded to the Baton Rouge Metropolitan (BTR) and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International (MSY) airports. Previously, Graves had announced a $1.176 million federal grant to help pay for runway improvements at the Louisiana Regional Airport facility.
