Graves Announces $1.15 Million Grant to Reimburse Lafourche Parish for Hurricane Ida Facility Damage Costs

U.S. Congressman Garret Graves (South Louisiana) announced today that Lafourche Parish will be reimbursed by FEMA $1,152,303.75 for facility damage costs incurred due to Hurricane Ida.

“It’s been three years since Hurricane Ida’s landfall and our communities are still feeling the impact. Lafourche Parish acted quickly to mitigate the severe damage caused by Hurricane Ida, and these funds only cover the costs incurred to initiate the repairs. These funds are welcome but come with consequences when delivered years later – skyrocketing inflation shortens the length that these critical rebuilding funds can go. We’ve also been saying for years that investment in hurricane and flood protection projects will save taxpayer dollars in the long run. We will continue to deliver disaster recovery funds to our communities that need it, and push for funding and action on critical projects that keep our communities safe year-round,” said Rep. Graves.
