FEMA Approves Congressional Delegation Request to Expand Blue Roof Program to Hurricane Ida Impacted Parishes

LOUISIANA – U.S. Congressman Garret Graves (South Louisiana) released the following statement after 10 additional parishes were included in the Blue Roof Program. The congressional members asked earlier this week for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to reevaluate its determination of eligibility for certain parishes for the Blue Roof program due to substantial damages from Hurricane Ida.

"This is good news for the Hurricane Ida victims across several parishes. We all know that allowing homes to take on more water while waiting for repairs only means more damage, more mold, more cost, and more delays," Graves said.

The blue roof program provides temporary protection through the installation of blue tarps over homes with damaged roofs from Hurricane Ida. Those residents with damaged homes can sign up for the program at: www.blueroof.us. Initially, FEMA approved 13 parishes for the program. The agency add two parishes to the program last week. Today, FEMA added 10 more parishes to the program. Residents from the following parishes are now eligible for temporary roof protection through the Blue Roof program.

The following parishes were added:

  • East Baton Rouge
  • East Feliciana
  • Iberia
  • Iberville
  • Pointe Coupee
  • St. Martin
  • St. Mary
  • Washington
  • West Baton Rouge
  • West Feliciana

The request was made by:

  • Congressman Garret Gaves
  • Congressman Steve Scalise
  • Congressman Clay Higgins
  • Congresswoman Julia Letlow
  • Congressman Troy Carter
