Washington, DC,
September 7, 2021
LOUISIANA – U.S. Congressman Garret Graves (South Louisiana) announced today seven parishes have been added to the Major Disaster Declaration which opens the eligibility to receive federal funding to assist with Hurricane Idea recovery efforts. Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, and Terrebonne parishes are now eligible for permanent work [Categories C-G] related to roads and bridges, water control facilities, public buildings and contents, public utilities, and parks, recreational and other facilities. These same parishes were already designated for Individual Assistance and assistance for debris removal and emergency protective measures (Categories A and B respectively), including direct federal assistance, under the Public Assistance program. On August 29, 2021, President Biden granted a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Louisiana triggering the release of federal funds to help people and communities recover from Hurricane Ida. "We have a lot more to do to help thousands of hurricane victims across Louisiana but this is a good step forward toward rebuilding. We are going to continue working with FEMA and emergency responders to help address the impacts from Hurricane Ida for every citizen in our state," Graves said. ### |
