U.S. Congressman Garret Graves (South Louisiana) joined fellow Gulf State congressional members in introducing legislation that makes the federal government pay Louisiana compensation for lost revenues due to President Biden's executive orders that knee-cap offshore energy production in the name of better energy and climate policy.

"The new administration cares about the environment so much that it kiboshed a primary source of funding for critical environmental restoration in Louisiana and along the Gulf Coast. We're giving math a shot with this bill because logic clearly doesn't resonate with them," Graves said.

Specifically, the "Gulf Conservation and Recreation Funding Act" would require the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) to compensate Gulf states for lost revenues as a result of cancelled lease sales, due to the policies put in place during the new administration. So long as the moratorium is in place, the DOI would be required to compensate the gulf states for any loss of revenue, below the FY18-FY20 average.
