WATCH: Rep. Garret Graves Hosts Top Transportation Republican for Capital Region Traffic Roundtable

Baton Rouge, LA - Congressman Garret Graves (South Louisiana) is raising the profile of South Louisiana transportation, flood protection and other infrastructure priorities this week as he hosts Rep. Sam Graves (R-MO), the Ranking Member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, for a multi-day survey of the Bayou State. To kick things off, the congressmen hosted a traffic-focused roundtable yesterday at the Water Institute and were joined by Baton Rouge Mayor Broome, members of the legislature and other Capital Region leaders to highlight the congestion problems in the area and to explore solutions with the top transportation policymaker in the U.S. House of Representatives.

"Believe it or not, the traffic behind us is like this every single day," Garret said in a recap video afterward, with 5 o'clock traffic over the Mississippi River bridge in the background. "That is not a parking lot; that is our interstate system."

Rep. Sam Graves added, "Traffic is not something that is just isolated to Southern California or New York or Boston. We have a lot of problems all over the country, so it is good to get down here and see firsthand what you're having to deal with."
