Graves Announces Airport Improvement Grant for Louisiana Regional Airport

Baton Rouge, La – Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Aviation Congressman Garret Graves (South Louisiana) announced today that Louisiana Regional Airport in Gonzales will receive a $1.176 million federal grant to help pay for runway improvements at the facility.
"I am excited to join the Ascension-St. James Airport and Transportation Authority in announcing this new federal funding, which will enhance Louisiana Regional, improve the facility's accessibility and help expand business and job opportunities in Ascension Parish," said Graves.
This announcement is in addition to the $22 million in federal funding for the Baton Rouge Regional airport that Graves announced earlier this summer.
"On behalf of the Ascension-St. James Airport Authority, I thank Congressman Graves for his assistance in obtaining federal funding for ongoing, critical maintenance and development projects at the Louisiana Regional Airport," said Rick Webre, chairman of the Ascension-St. James Airport and Transportation Authority.
On March 23, 2018, the President signed legislation into law that provided the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funding, enabling the Secretary of Transportation to issue grants for selected, authorized projects.
Rep. Garret Graves was selected to serve his first term as Aviation Subcommittee Ranking Member in the at the start of 2019. Previously, Rep. Graves served as Chairman of the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee in the 115th Congress and was instrumental in the development and passage of the America's Water Infrastructure Act. Graves also worked closely with other Committee leaders on the Disaster Recovery Reform Act to improve Federal Emergency Management Agency programs and strengthen U.S. communities' ability to become more resilient to disaster. |
