U.S. Rep. Graves visits Zachary
U.S. Rep. Garret Graves, from Louisiana’s 6th congressional district, was the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Zachary’s April 7 meeting.
He was invited to speak by Rotarian Sharon Phillips.
Graves serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee, which deal with transportation, flood control, hurricane protection, maritime commerce, coastal restoration, ports development and energy production.
His subcommittee assignments include being vice chairman of Water Resources and Environment as well as serving on Highways and Transit; Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation; Energy and Mineral Resources; and Water, Power and Oceans.
A Baton Rouge native, Graves grew up in a family of entrepreneurs and small business owners. He said that environment held individual responsibility, innovation and a strong work ethic in the highest regard, all of which helped shape his passion for public service.
