U.S. Congressman Graves addresses North Ascension Rotary Club about traffic, oil, debt
U.S. Rep. Garret Graves addressed the Rotary Club of North Ascension at noon on Wednesday at Sammy’s Grill focusing mostly on traffic in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area he represents that is nearing a population of one million people and includes Ascension Parish which has added 70,000 new residents in the past 35 years.
Approximately 30,000 new residents moved to the parish between the 2000 and 2010 census causing a growth rate of 40 percent in the one decade alone. Graves said he fought to get on the committees for transportation, because he represents the area with the worse in the nation, and natural resources.
