Graves Statement on U.S. House Natural Resources Committee Advancing the TAPP Act

U.S. Congressman Garret Graves released the following statement after the Transparency, Accountability, Permitting and Production of American Resources Act (TAPP Act) advanced though the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee:

"The legislation provides solutions to many of our state's most important problems.

"The bill unleashes abundant energy supplies off Louisiana's coast and throughout our country — providing more affordable gasoline and utility bills while helping to ensure we are not dependent upon foreign adversaries for our energy needs.

"The bill's changes to the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) will provide higher energy revenue sharing for critical hurricane protection, the restoration of our coast, and flood control projects throughout the Gulf Coast to help protect our communities and reduce the costs of insurance and disaster recovery.

"Finally, H.R. 1335 cuts through regulatory bureaucracy by streamlining the environmental review permitting process that currently takes over seven years to complete, while focusing those reviews on balancing environmental and mitigation solutions. This bill will save years and millions of dollars while actually implementing – rather than endlessly studying – projects."
